Blackjack Strategies to gain over the casino
In essence, a game of blackjack involves the removal of cards and thereafter the dealing of the remaining cards from a deck. Findings from studies conducted on the game of blackjack through the use of complex computer programming indicate that the removal of particular cards from a deck gives the player an advantage while the removal of other cards tend to give the dealer an upper hand. Blackjack is the only casino game where the player can consistently beat the dealer.
Through complex computer modeling and analyses it has been shown that the advantage switches from player to the dealer and vice versa depending on the card values that are left in the shoe. There are many books and online sources that explain these mathematical models and strategies and explain probability theory. The most commonly used book is by Edward Thorp entitled Beat the Dealer. There are also online forums where you can discuss strategies with more experienced players. However there is no substitute for practice.
The best method of gaining odds over the dealer is by counting the remaining cards in the shoe, calculating when to stay, buy or split your cards and by varying your bets accordingly. When the numbers remaining are mainly low numbers then the dealer has the advantage over the players. When the remaining cards are in the7, 8 and 9 range then the odds remain neutral and favors neither the dealer nor the player. A sure fire way of winning a game is by betting higher stakes when the remaining cards are high numbers from 10 upwards including face cards and aces. High value cards favor the player.
Here are some tips to help you capitalize on the advantage that you have:
First look for a table that is giving you the most advantage making sure that neither the player nor the dealer has an advantage of 0.5%. You can do this by card counting. Count the aces and tens. If there are more of these remaining in the deck after the first round than low value cards then you should increase your stakes four fold. If there are more low value cards remaining than aces and tens then keep your betting down to the base level.
Adjust your betting according to how many high value cards remain. When there are more low cards remaining switch back to your minimum bet again.
The key is to count the aces – the more there are the better the odds in your favor as your winnings will be 3:2 for blackjack, giving you the edge over the house. If the remaining cards show no definite advantage decrease your stake according to how many aces remain.
Other factors that influence the odds include the location of the cutting card or when the deck is reshuffled (the later the better), the range between the minimum and maximum bet (the larger the better), the number of players at the table (the less the better) and your individual position at the table (the higher the better).
Be prepared to spend a lot of time familiarizing yourself with the rules of the game and published strategies for winning. You will eventually develop your own individual strategies for winning.
